Comreg, the Irish communications regulator, has recently hit Sky Ireland with a €250k fine in relation to breaches surrounding customer cancellations.

The investigation was opened in December 2024 due to customer complaints.

The complaints surrounded wait times while trying to contact Sky Ireland and having to call several times before they could speak to a customer representative, and then multiple steps over the phone call before cancellation could be resolved.

Comreg engaged with Sky regarding these issues and Sky cooperated with Comreg during the course of the process, Comreg said in a statement.

Sky had already taken steps to remedy the identified issues, and has committed to additional remedy actions required by Comreg. Sky has agreed to pay a penalty of €250k in settlement of this investigation, the regulator added.

Comreg said its investigation into the matter is now closed and that it will continue to monitor Sky’s compliance with its obligations.
