Since the beginning of 2026, Ashbourne Credit Union has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the local community through a wide range of sponsorships and donations that have benefited sporting organisations, schools, charities and voluntary groups across Ashbourne and the surrounding areas.
As a member-owned financial cooperative, Ashbourne Credit Union has always believed that investing in the community is just as important as providing financial services. Throughout the year, the Credit Union has proudly supported organisations that enrich the lives of local people, encourage participation, and strengthen community spirit.
Among the recipients of support this year have been Ashbourne Men’s Shed, helping to promote friendship, wellbeing and practical community projects for local members; Ashbourne Rugby Club, supporting the continued growth of rugby at all levels; and Ashbourne Golf Club, through sponsorship of a ladies’ competition that celebrated participation and excellence in women’s golf.

The Credit Union has also continued its long-standing support of Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA, recognising the vital role the club plays in promoting Gaelic games and fostering community involvement for hundreds of young players and families. With the club continuing to expand to meet the needs of a growing population, community partnerships remain more important than ever.
Education has also remained a priority, with St. Mary’s National School, Ashbourne receiving support for initiatives that benefit pupils and enhance school life. Investing in young people continues to be a cornerstone of the Credit Union’s mission to help build stronger communities for future generations.
Charitable and voluntary organisations have likewise benefited during 2026. Support has been provided to the Ashbourne Lions Club, whose volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year to assist local causes and families, while a contribution to the ILCU Foundation reflects the Credit Union’s commitment to the wider credit union movement and its work supporting social and humanitarian initiatives both in Ireland and overseas.
“Supporting our community has always been at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to partner with organisations whose volunteers and members make Ashbourne such a vibrant and caring place to live. Every sponsorship and donation is an investment in our community, and we look forward to continuing that support throughout the year.”
Founded in 1970, Ashbourne Credit Union has remained true to its mission of meeting the social and economic needs of its members while supporting the wider community through education, volunteering, and local investment. Its continued sponsorship of clubs, schools, and community organisations during 2026 is another example of the positive difference that a community-owned financial cooperative can make.
